Today, 16 October 2024, our amazing friends at Veggies celebrate their 40th anniversary!
Veggies was established as a fully vegan volunteer-led cooperative on 16 October 1984 and has tirelessly been providing food for activists at hundreds of protests, events and festivals up and down the country ever since.
The inspirational man behind Veggies’ success, Patrick, and the fantastic team of volunteers, have been feeding thousands of hungry activists at protests and events year in and year out for almost half a century! It’s always reassuring to see Veggies rock up at an event, knowing that a massive, scrummy vegan burger is a guaranteed delight!
But Veggies is much, much more … Veggies always travels with a library of information and literature that people can utilise while eating delicious vegan food. Spreading the word about compassion towards our planet and all its inhabitants, Veggies has helped inform and educate throughout its impressive history.
Veggies was also a big part of Animal Aid’s 40th anniversary celebration in 2017 – The Vegan Festival of Britain – where Veggies’ Chef Chrissy made 40 huge birthday cakes enabling us to distribute 1500 slices – for free – to the Bristol public. As shown, above, MP Kerry McCarthy, was on hand to launch the event.
From all of us at Animal Aid, Happy Anniversary to all at Veggies!
