Get involved: Our Week of Action for dairy cows begins TODAY

Posted on the 17th February 2025

Weā€™re taking our new campaign, Terror on Our Tables, to the streets with a Week of Action for dairy cows. To celebrate, weā€™re also launching a brand-new set of nationwide adverts calling attention to the ultimate animal rights violation: killing an individual who does not wish to die.Ā The new artwork is revealed below!

Last week, we sent out hundreds of action packs containing tens of thousands of leaflets, in anticipation of our new campaignā€™s Week of Action, which launches today. If youā€™d like to speak up for dairy cows, hereā€™s some ideas for getting involved:Ā

  • Hand out leaflets in your town centre, outside your local train station, or simply leave them in community areas like waiting rooms, libraries, and youth clubs.Ā
  • Door dropping is low effort but high impact, reaching people in their own homes but please be respectful of peopleā€™s property and any ā€˜no leafletsā€™ signage.Ā
  • Setting up a street stall is a great way to encourage conversations with the public. Weā€™ll send you posters to promote your stall, and you could even give out free samples of plant-milk or vegan cheese!Ā
  • Organise a demo if there are a few of you who want to help. Whether itā€™s a peaceful protest outside your local supermarket or a slaughterhouse vigil, thereā€™s loads of ways to speak up for the victims of dairy.

New artwork launches today

Last week, our first ever television advert reached people in their very own homes, calling on consumers to rethink their consumption of dairy and ā€˜Choose Compassionā€™ instead. Our TV advert will continue to be shown for the next month.

Weā€™re now following the success of this ad with a whole new angle: that the lives of dairy cows, just like animals reared for meat, will end brutally and prematurely ā€œin the blink of an eyeā€. Many people think more favourably about dairy products because cows donā€™t have to die to produce milk, but the truth is that they suffer in myriad other ways and will still, ultimately, be slaughtered and enter the beef supply chain.Ā

The new artwork features a harrowing close-up of a cowā€™s terrified expression alongside an animated counter that tallies a shocking statistic: 107,329 male calves killed in slaughterhouses (2020-2022) less than one month old, all because they cannot produce milk and are thus ā€˜uselessā€™ to the industry.Ā

These new ads are being shown across the UK from today, on billboards and via targeted advertising online and across social media. If you see it, please take a photo and let us know by emailing info@animalaid.org.uk!Ā

Choose Compassion this Valentineā€™s Day

Our new farming campaign shines a damning light on the dairy industry. One of the most heartbreaking elements to dairy? The separation of mothers and babies.
