What do UK supermarkets have on offer this festive season?
Tesco is consistently fantastic for vegan options, and the festive season isn’t an exception. This year you can find mains like the No-Turkey Crown, the Mushroom and Chestnut Festive Wreath, amongst others. Not only that, Tesco has a plethora of party food, for all your Christmas party needs – including Mini Katsu Inspired Bao Buns and Paella Inspired Arancini Bites. You can also find desserts, like a traditional Christmas Pudding and mince pies!
For those who enjoy meat-alternatives, Sainsbury’s is perfect – this year they have a selection of centrepieces to choose from; the No Turkey Crown, No Turkey Stuffed Crown and the No Beef Wellington. Don’t forget the trimmings! Shroompups in Blankets for a cruelty-free alternative to pigs in blankets, as well as vegan Sage & Onion Stuffing Balls feature in this year’s offerings. In addition, Sainsbury’s has an array of vegan Christmas desserts – including a traditional Christmas Pudding, Mince Pies and a Chocolate Cookie Torte, all of which look and sound divine.
Wanting to impress or perhaps fool, your meat-eating family? Asda’s OMV! Vegan No Turkey is a realistic looking whole turkey (made from plants, rather than a dead animal)! Or, if you prefer something different, they also have an Oyster and Porcini Mushroom Wellington, which features a mixture of different mushrooms, all seasoned and wrapped in a flaky pastry. And for dessert, you can choose from the OMV! Strawberry Trifle, OMV! Crumbled Top Vegan Mince Pies or the OMV! Dark Choc and Honeycomb Cake Pop Bites! We are truly spoilt for choice this Christmas.
Waitrose have gone all out this Christmas with their Plantliving Chestnut and Thyme Plant Based Turkey Roast, which also features vegan side of vegan ‘pigs in blankets’ and stuffing! Waitrose also has a Plant-Based Festive Wellington, featuring a mixture of mushrooms and vegan beef. For dessert, Waitrose is offering the decadent-looking Millionaire’s Torte.
