Want to get active for animals in 2025? Read on!

Posted on the 14th January 2025

It’s early in the year, but we are already getting messages and calls from kind people who want to do more to help animals, so we've put together a few ideas.

  1. Join a local vegan group or animal rights group and get active and vocal for animals. Not only will you be helping spread the important message of compassion for animals and to change other people’s lives, you will also be meeting like-minded people and could make some great friends. Feel free to contact us for details of your nearest group!
  2. Order free Animal Aid materials from us to hand out in your local town centre or to give away if you run a street stall. We have leaflets, posters and booklets with information about many issues that affect animals and that ask people to make kinder choices. Check the list of materials available (https://www.animalaid.org.uk/the-issues/campaigns-resources/ ) and then email us at info@animalaid.org.uk with the titles and numbers of the materials you’d like to order, plus your name and delivery address.
  3. Become a School Speaker for Animal Aid. Help inspire the next generation by training to become an Animal Aid School Speaker. Click here for more information.
  4. Volunteer at your nearest animal rescue shelter. Animal rescue centres are always desperate for help and, even if you can only manage a couple of hours a week or month, that makes a huge difference. Look online for your nearest one.
  5. Put food and fresh water outside for wild birds and continue replenishing this throughout the winter. On very cold days, you might need to check the water has not iced over. Nuts, seeds and chopped fruit are especially popular. Click here for more ideas about how to help animals.
  6. Go vegan! Help stop animal suffering by swapping cuisine containing animal products for delicious vegan alternatives. Nowadays you can buy vegan alternatives to more or less any animal-based product you can think of! Why not download our FREE vegan guide to get started?
  7. Stay up to date with our campaigns by signing up to our e-news.
  8. Check out our Get Active page for ways to help our campaigns and for current petitions which you may like to sign. Get loads more practical ideas on how to Get Active for Animals in our Guide – download it here.
  9. Share this post on social media to help inspire your friends!
  10. Finally, our brand-new farming campaign needs your help! More info below…

We’re excited to launch our brand-new farming campaign in the coming weeks, and we need YOUR help to distribute our new leaflets to as many people as possible, across the country! Whether you run a street stall or outreach, are happy to hand out leaflets in your local community or outside train stations, or even just share them with friends or family.
