Is ‘slaughter-free dairy’ really possible?
The short answer is no - especially not in the name of animal rights.

There are many reasons to swap dairy for plant-based alternatives; here are just four.
Cows, goats and other animals suffer horrendously in the dairy industry. For example, dairy cows are impregnated, have their babies taken away from them, and when they are no longer ‘profitable’, they are sent to the slaughterhouse.
If a calf is female, she will suffer the same fate as her mother. Male claves are largely useless to the dairy industry; whereas some may be used for breeding, most of them are either killed on the farm at a day or two old or sent to be reared for veal – sometimes having to endure long journeys abroad.

The slurry from dairy farms can leak into rivers and streams where it kills fish and spreads disease. In addition to this, when compared to dairy milk, all plant milks are better for the planet in terms of carbon footprint, water use and land use.

Therefore, there is no nutrient contained in dairy that cannot be obtained from vegan sources.
