Every major supermarket now offers a wide range of vegan Christmas options.
Tesco has announced its vegan offerings for this year, which include a mix of party food, mains and desserts.
For party food and canapés, you can treat yourself to the Plant Chef Meat Free Mini Not-dogs and Burgers, and the Wicked Kitchen Mini Mac Party Pots, which are mini tubs of vegan smokey mac ‘n’ cheese, topped with crispy fried onions and a vegan chorizo.
Moving on to mains, the Wicked Kitchen No-Turkey Roast Crown is back by popular demand; a vegan turkey alternative topped with vegan butter and sage and onion stuffing. And for those not too keen on meat-alternatives, you can also get the Plant Chef Portobello Mushroom Wellington and the Plant Chef Parcels with Beet Sauce and Horseradish Crumb, which are filled with roasted root vegetables and served with a beetroot sauce.
You will also find four brand new Christmas desserts: Wicked Kitchen Chocolate and Salted Caramel Cake, Wicked Kitchen Belgian Chocolate and Salted Caramel Log, Wicked Kitchen Awesome Apple and Salted Caramel Pies, and Wicked Kitchen Spiced Rum Christmas Pudding.
Waitrose also has announced a plethora of festive treats for 2021. For party food and canapés, Waitrose has Savoury Vegetable Pies – a mix of mushroom and creamy leek and vegetables pies, made with puff pastry. More excitingly, the Vegan No Lobster Roll will be available, which is made from king oyster mushrooms!
For your centrepiece, you can get the Vegan Jewelled Roast with a Fruity Centre – which is a mushroom-based roast, with caramelised onions, chestnuts, and topped with dried fruit and nuts.
Dessert options include the Vegan Winter Pudding, made with a mix of fruits, layered with bread and soaked in a lightly spiced fruit sauce. And of course, the classic Vegan Mince Pies.
Asda has stepped up its vegan game for this Christmas, included as part of this are the very exciting Plant-Based Christmas Cheeseboard, the No-Turkey Wrap and the Vegan Crab Croquettes with Red Pepper and Roasted Garlic Purée – perfect for Christmas parties and buffets.
And for mains, there is a selection of the Beefless Wellington, made with a soya-based alternative to beef and layered with mushrooms. For those who aren’t too keen on meat alternatives, Asda will have a Plant-Based Vegan Cranberry and Chestnut Wreath, and Vegan Roasted Root Vegetable Tart.
Sainsbury’s has a number of exciting vegan options this year. For mains, there is the No Gammon with Maple Glaze – a vegan alternative to a gammon joint, made with wheat and pea protein. In addition to this, you can get the Plant Pioneers No Turkey Crown, for a more traditional feel and the No Turkey Parcels.
If you fancy something a bit different, why not try the Plant Pioneers No Salmon En Croute, which is made from jackfruit, soya and oyster mushroom-based ‘salmon’ fillets in puff pastry with a garlic and dill white sauce.
You can also get a good range of desserts this year; the Plant Pioneers Chocolate & Salted Caramel Star, the Free From Caramel Apple Crumble Slices, and even a vegan cheeseboard selection!
There is also a good selection of party food including, mini No Chicken Kievs and Mini Black Bean Tacos.
This year, Morrisons has announced a plethora of vegan options for the perfect festive feast. For nibbles and canapes, there’s the option of Vegan Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese Pots, which feature a vegan alternative to smoked salmon made out of carrots. In addition to this, Morrisons also has an amazing Best Oven Roasted Mushroom Vegan Pate.
And for the main course, you can choose from the Vegan Roast Joint with Herb & Onion Stuffing, which made form soya, and feature a caramelised onion, parsley, sage and thyme stuffing, or the Vegetable Wellington – filled with a vegetable and butternut squash joint, wrapped in a cranberry, apricot and chestnut duxelles with a wholegrain mustard melt, all encased in a golden puff pastry.
Aldi has announced an incredible vegan Christmas range for 2021.
They have some very exciting sounding nibbles and party food – including a vegan Camembert and handmade Vegan Dim Sum. For the traditionalists, Aldi’s No Pigs in Blankets are perfect. Vegan sausages wrapped in smoky vegan rashers.
For mains you can choose from the Plant Menu Turkey Crown with Vegan Bacon, made from soya with a cranberry and chestnut stuffing centre, or the Specially Selected Vegan Festive Wreath, packed with butternut squash, chestnuts and pumpkin seeds. For sides, the Vegan Stuffing Balls will go down a treat. And don’t forget the gravy – the Plant Menu Vegan Gravy will add the final touches to any plant-based festive feast!
Aldi also has a number of desserts this year; in addition to a traditional Christmas pudding, you can get a Speculoos Cheezecake, Vegan Chocolate Torte Slices and a selection of vegan truffles.
To top it off, Aldi has produced a hamper, full of vegan goodies, making it the perfect gift for vegan friends and family!
