Being Vegan on a Budget

Posted on the 20th June 2023

Being on a budget needn’t be a barrier to living a life that’s healthier, better for the environment and kinder to animals. We're here to bust the myth that vegan diets are costly and time-consuming...

Plant-based 101

It’s never been easier to lead a plant-based lifestyle, even if you’re on a budget! Despite common misconceptions, vegan diets are surprisingly affordable not to mention exciting, rewarding, and healthy.

Cooking meals from scratch is always going to be cheaper than buying pre-made meals from supermarkets – it’s also healthier, more rewarding, and better for the environment! Thankfully, the staples of a vegan diet are all cheap and readily available: beans, vegetables, fruits, potatoes and wholegrains.

Shopping around is another tip. For items like spices, herbs, tofu, dried pulses and rice or pasta, Asian supermarkets are often much cheaper than the bigger, highstreet brands – you may also find a hidden gem or new favourite ingredient!

And finally, batch cooking is a great way to save money. Having a supply of homecooked, healthy meals to hand means you’ll be less tempted by all the incredible alternative proteins and vegan treats that – although delicious and exciting! – are typically more expensive.
