Not only have Marks and Spencer released a new vegan range, they have also introduced vegan labelling for their own-brand products.
Marks and Spencer really upped their vegan game recently, with the launch of their new Plant Kitchen range, which features more than 50 new plant-based products, including coleslaw, pizzas, mac ‘n’ cheese, cauliflower ‘popcorn’, ready-meals and more! As well as this exciting new range, we can confirm that M&S has also introduced vegan labelling for all of their own-brand vegan products.
They join Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Iceland and Waitrose in committing to clearly and consistently labelling their own-brand vegan products, following the launch of Animal Aid’s #MarkItVegan campaign.
Clearly and consistently labelling products as vegan in some way has benefits for the business as well as the consumer; firstly, it enables those of us who avoid animal products entirely to easily find which products are vegan. Secondly, it also helps non-vegans realise how many delicious vegan options there truly are to choose from. When veganism is presented as something that is normal, those who may be a little sceptical are more inclined to give it a try.
As well as introducing new products, M&S have also altered the ingredients of some of their previous non-vegan products to make them vegan!
