Is ‘slaughter-free dairy’ really possible?
The short answer is no - especially not in the name of animal rights.

Our work in 2017

It’s been a busy year, with some tremendous progress for animals. From convincing the government to introduce mandatory CCTV in slaughterhouses, to stopping plans to race horses in the centre of London, there have been some significant achievements. But none of this would have been possible without our wonderful supporters. We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated, bought goods from our shop, took action online, or helped in other ways.

Here are just a few other examples of our work this year. We:
- Held live vigils at three slaughterhouses together with campaigners from the Save Movement. We highlighted the cruelty of slaughter and the suffering we had secretly filmed at these abattoirs.
- Attended the prestigious Education Show at the NEC, distributing around 2,800 resources for schools and young people.
- Launched our campaign against a cruel new initiative to cull grey squirrels, led by the Wildlife Trusts. We stood up for squirrels on BBC Radio 2, in the Guardian and more than 11,000 complaints were submitted. The struggle continues.
- Worked with students at the University of Hertfordshire to stop a cruel reindeer event from going ahead.
- Fought for animals in the Snap General Election. More than 3,000 people contacted their election candidates, and we sent out around 2,000 pledge cards. We asked candidates to make CCTV mandatory for all slaughterhouses, and ensure that animal welfare laws are protected after Brexit.
We cannot say how grateful we are for everyone who has supported us this year. We think Karin from our Education Team sums up our feelings nicely in the short video below. It features a very special honorary member of the Animal Aid team!
