In a case that is gaining international attention, a verdict is being handed down today to Anita Krajnc because she chose to show compassion to pigs in need. She has been charged with criminal mischief for giving water to vulnerable, overheated pigs being transported to slaughter in Burlington, Ontario.
Anita Krajnc, Founder, Save Movement, says:
“I pleaded not guilty, testifying that what I did was not only rightful and necessary, but also a duty that we all share. When you see a creature suffering, you have an obligation to come close and try to help.
“All of us should practice the Golden Rule towards others, whether they have two legs or four.”
Luke Steele, Farming and Slaughter Campaigns Manager, Animal Aid, says:

“As the world watches the trial of Anita Krajnc today, let us commit to ensuring a future where animals are considered worthy of legal rights instead of having an archaic status as property.”
