Two horse deaths mark the world’s cruelest racing meeting

As the number of horse deaths shockingly continues to rise at the Grand National Meeting their deaths are overshadowed by the overwhelming focus, of ITV, the racing industry and  spectators, on the winners. The merest mention of a death, if at all, is the only action the racing industry and those connected to it, feel is worthy of the loss of a horse’s life.

Solwara One, an 8 year old gelding died following the 1.45 race on Friday at Aintree. He was being ridden by Jockey Sam Twiston-Davies.  Elle Est Belle, a 6 year-old bay mare died after the second race on the final day of the three-day meeting.

Says, Animal Aid’s Horse Racing Campaigner, Jade Emery:

‘If a horse’s life is worthless to the racing industry, as we have seen every year at the Grand National meeting, then the industry itself is devoid of morals. It’s time to challenge the acceptance of this race meeting, and the associated deaths, and see it banned from taking place.’
