On the final day of Cheltenham, Ginto, a 6-year-old gelding, broke down when running in the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle race. His death follows that of Shallwehaveonemore, Born Patriot and Mindsmadeup who were all killed in horrific circumstances at this year’s notorious event.
The racing industry risks horses’ safety and their lives for entertainment and in the pursuit of profit. It’s shocking that the industry and some media coverage acts as though the death of these horses is unavoidable This is not unavoidable these horses did not need to die.
The use of horses in these dangerous events must be stopped. We’re encouraging people to send e-postcards to ITV asking them to cut ties with racing and to stop broadcasting these cruel events.
