Who we are & what we do
Animal Aid is one of the world’s longest established animal rights groups, having been founded in 1977. We campaign peacefully against all forms of animal abuse and promote cruelty-free living. Our vision is a world in which animals are no longer harmed and exploited for human gain, but allowed to live out their lives in peace.
In 2023
- Animal Aid’s funding helped develop a non-animal test to replace cruel and outdated lethal dose animal tests. Globally, this new test could stop millions of animals enduring the most horrendous suffering and deaths.
- Animal Aid’s education team delivered more than 550 talks and workshops in schools, and colleges across the UK.
- Animal Aid hosted its second Future of Science student conference, to inspire young scientists to pursue a career in animal-free research and bring about change in the industry.
- Animal Aid’s government petition to ban snares passed 100,000 signatures and was debated in Westminster.  Later in the year Wales announced a total ban on archaic and indiscriminate snares.
- Animal Aid launched a campaign to end the industrial breeding and release of millions of pheasants to be shot for sport.
