Sponsor Carole & Kate on their 150-mile walk

Posted 27 April 2007

On 6th May, Animal Aid staff members Carole Backler and Kate Fowler-Reeves will be starting their 150-mile walk to raise funds for Animal Aid’s vital campaigning work. The walk - which follows the Cumbrian Coastal Path - will take the pair just five days to complete. That equates to a blister-forming, leg-aching 30 miles every day for five consecutive days.

Kate says:

“We have been training for many weeks - tramping across the South Downs in gale force winds, and sweltering our way along the Sussex Border Path in the recent heat wave. We are ready for this challenge, but under no illusions about how hard it will be. I’m just hoping for mild, dry weather and a following wind!”

Carole says:

“During training, we have taken advice from marathon runners and long-distance walkers, and even they say we must be mad to tackle this! We expect to be walking for 10-12 hours each day, but if the weather is particularly hot, it could take even longer. Fingers crossed that the blisters don’t slow us down too much.”

This really is a huge challenge. Please sponsor Carole and Kate and make it all worthwhile.
