Animal Aid's Christmas Without Cruelty Fayre, Sunday 2nd December 2007

Posted 4 September 2007

Come and join in the fun at Animal Aid’s 14th Annual Christmas Without Cruelty Fayre at Kensington Town Hall, on Sunday 2nd December, from 10.00 until 17.00. This is our 30th Anniversary year, so help us celebrate this milestone in style.

Veteran politician, campaigner and Animal Aid patron, Tony Benn, will be visiting the Fayre. He will be showing his support for Animal Aid’s campaigns and saying a few inspiring words about the fight against exploitation and cruelty.

There will be more than 80 stands all promoting charities, campaign groups and ethical traders who are trying to make a real difference in the world. Have a wonderful shopping spree safe in the knowledge that no products have been tested on animals or include any animal ingredients. Help animals, the environment, and reduce your carbon footprint, by purchasing goods which have made the least impact on our planet in their production. Goods on sale include chocolates, cruelty-free toiletries and cosmetics, non-leather boots and shoes, recycled and fair-trade goods, environmentally-friendly clothing, plus seasonal gifts and cards.

This year we have some new caterers to join our regulars of Shambhu’s Kitchen and Veggies. Savour the delights of a wonderful Mediterranean cuisine from The Indian Kitchen and the fantastic flavours of the Caribbean with Rainforest Creations. Try delicious samples of vegan foods from Redwood Foods and Beanie’s.

In addition to the wonderful vegan food, enjoy lectures, videos, a live auction of celebrity items, and even the kids are catered for with face-painting, a children’s workshop and creche. For your entertainment we have a fantastic Press-ups Competition – so do take part.

Not forgetting the amazing vegan contortionist “Rubber Ritchie” who has come to fame around the world, working flexible hours to make ends meet! He did not discover this talent, but nurtured it through a whole-food vegan diet, clean living and years of daily practice.

CELEBRITY AUCTION

This year, at the celebrity live auction, not only will Tony Benn be attending the fayre, but he has signed and donated one of his trademark pipes, too.

The lively Noel Lynch will be wielding his gavel, and kicking off the proceedings at 2.30pm in the downstairs foyer.

Items up for auction this year include:

There are many more items up for auction including signed photos and vouchers from ethical food, clothing and wine companies. Don’t forget - 2.30pm in the downstairs foyer!

WEB CLINIC

For the very first time, Imaner Consultants, who design and maintain Animal Aid's own on-line Shop, will be holding a Web Clinic at the Fayre and will be offering free consultations on web design and development. Please pre-book a time-slot by calling Andy or Libby on 0113 293 9385, or email consultants@imaner.net.

PRESS-UP COMPETITION

Vegan Bodybuilding presents the World Vegan Press-up competition. Once again it is time to find the fittest vegan in the world! The contest consists of doing the most continuous press-ups with the elbows bending to at least 90 degrees. There will be prizes for the best male & female competitor. For full details of the event go to www.veganbodybuilding.org.
