Animal Aid

Help to build opposition to the Cheltenham Festival

Posted 6 February 2014

Animal Aid’s Battle Bus will be in Cheltenham on 7 & 8 March, a few days before the 2014 Festival commences, in order to build local opposition to the event. Can you join us and help to leaflet people in the city centre?

Since the year 2000, 39 horses have died at the Cheltenham Festival.

When other racing events at Cheltenham Racecourse are taken into account – the Festival included – more horses have died at the venue since Animal Aid launched Race Horse Deathwatch in 2007, than at any other racecourse in the country. There have been a total of 48 fatalities at all its meetings since that date.
