Have a Heart for British Pigs - Day of Action February 14th

Posted 5 February 2009

You may have seen the media reports about the cruelties of pig farming overseas. What much of the media did not show was the shocking suffering of pigs in British farms.

Over the last several months, Animal Aid has conducted a thorough investigation into leading pig farms in this country and our findings reveal widespread suffering, death, neglect and misery. We cannot allow the assertion that British pigs enjoy high welfare standards to go unchallenged!

So, we are teaming up with Viva! – the vegetarian organisation which has also conducted investigations into pig farms – for a Day of Action for Pigs. And we need your help.

We are asking everyone who cares about pigs to order leaflets, badges and posters – either from Animal Aid or from Viva! – and leaflet members of the public outside their local supermarket on Saturday February 14th.

You can dress up in pig masks and snouts, put a campaigner in a cage, or simply educate people by handing out leaflets. It is entirely up to you. But please do spare an hour – or more – to help British pigs.

Order leaflets, posters and ‘Have a Heart’ badges from the Animal Aid office. Call 01732 364546 or email kate@animalaid.co.uk.

Alternatively, contact Viva! on 0117 944 1000 or kate@viva.org.uk.

Thank you.
