May

Saturday 18 May: Viva's Dump the Dairy Day of Action

Join in with Viva's Day for Badgers on Saturday, May 18 by ordering a free door-dropper or demo pack and stand up for badgers! Together we can defeat their plans to exterminate badgers across England. The situation is now very urgent. And that is why Viva desperately need your support getting leaflets and posters out to the public. Whether you door-drop your street, organise a local event or put up posters it all helps. Order your materials from Viva's website.

Saturday 18 May: First International Veggie Pride, Geneva

An international demonstration for the victims of farming and fishing. The Veggie Pride march will take place on Saturday, May 18 in Geneva. It will be an international event for the first time and activists from many different countries are expected. As well as the Veggie Pride, various other actions and events will be held from May 16th to the 20th: conferences, an event in front of the UN, another at the World Health Organization, an initiative asking society to recognize legal rights for animals (right to life, to liberty, and to be no one’s property), etc. Given the high cost of living in Switzerland, Veggie Pride will offer vegan food and housing at the lowest price possible. Find out more.

Sunday 19 May: Badger Trust event against the badger cull

Come along for a special event showing opposition to the badger cull at Secret World Wild Life Rescue, New Road Farm, New Road, East Huntspill, Highbridge, TA9 3PZ starting at 10am. Please dress in either black or white for the photography of some very special crowd scenes with a twist in the tail. Those attending will be wanted all day, from 10am until 4pm. Nobody will be individually filmed unless they have been asked beforehand, so no need to be camera shy! To ensure success, rehearsals will take place during the morning with the live filming at about 3pm, but we must underline that it is essential that you are there for the entire period.

It is hoped that this exciting event will be supported by friends and families of the many other organisations who are working together to try to persuade the Coalition Government to consider the vaccination of both badgers and cattle as a viable alternative to the free shooting of badgers. Any questions, please contact either the Badger Trust on 08458 287878/ email staff@badgertrust.org.uk or Secret World on 01278 783250/ email info@secretworld.org.
